April 2023 - Week 3 Roundup

Woolly - necked Stork

Sighted on: 19.Apr.2023

I was with a group of five guests on a village tour when we spotted a Woolly- necked Stork feeding on tadpoles of the Bi-coloured frog. These Bi-coloured frog tadpoles are larger than any frog species found in our country, and this long-legged beauty was seizing the opportunity to have its fill.

Leopard

Sighted on: 20.Apr.2023

We were in for a real surprise during the vehicle safari – we encountered a magnificent resting in the open. Leopards are rather elusive, and we usually spot them resting high up in the trees. However, this large male graced us with his presence for over fifteen minutes. It was the perfect photo opportunity for us.

Indian Pitta

Sighted on: 21.Apr.2023

A winter visitor to Kabini, the Indian Pitta usually arrives in the month of September and stays with us till the beginning of April. However, we were lucky to spot one, as they should have left by now for their summer grounds. I guess not everybody sticks to schedules.
