During the morning boat safari, we witnessed a moment of quiet magic. A pied kingfisher perched on one of the partially submerged stumps, its black-and-white plumage striking against the backdrop of lush greenery. In a blur of precision, it plunged into the water and emerged triumphant, a tiny fish clasped in its beak. The effortless grace and sharp hunting skills of this bird were truly mesmerising to observe.

Darter

During a tranquil boat safari in Kabini, we spotted a darter swimming with its sleek, snake-like neck swaying gently. Nicknamed the "snakebird," it’s always fascinating to observe this bird's distinctive silhouette. After a while, it slipped into the water, disappearing almost entirely and leaving only ripples behind. Resurfacing moments later with a fish, it showcased its remarkable fishing prowess.
