Leopard
Sighted on: 6.Mar.2023
Leopards are considered one of the most beautiful of the big cats. Notoriously shy, especially in places where it shares its territory with Tigers, they are generally very difficult to see. Their perfect camouflage makes the task even more challenging. However, as luck would have it, we had an excellent and clear sighting of a magnificent male leopard in the open.

Red Headed Vulture
Sighted on: 8.Mar.2023
With the water level decreasing, we have been having excellent sightings during the boat safari. Today we were fortunate to see some Red Headed Vultures and White Backed Vultures feeding off a male Spotted Deer carcass. India has lost a significant portion of its vulture population due to the indiscriminate use of a veterinary drug called diclofenac which made this sighting very special. I am happy to report that during the past two years, sightings of vulture species have increased in Kabini, hinting at a gradual population recovery.

Black Panther
Sighted on: 10.Mar.2023
Kabini's famous black panther was seen after a gap of fifteen months. He was first spotted walking in the undergrowth parallel to the road before emerging to walk across the viewline, providing us with a clear view. I made an educated guess as to where he might be headed and waited there for over an hour. Finally, our patience was rewarded, and he was spotted moving through the undergrowth.

Leopard with kill
Sighted on: 10.Mar.2023
It was a quiet safari drive as safari drives go, and I could feel the enthusiasm wane amongst my guests. I decided to head towards the river, knowing there would be a better chance of seeing some wildlife as they came to slake their thirst. However, I got much more than I had bargained. The forest suddenly resounded with alarms call - Spotted Deer, Langurs and even a Giant Squirrel - and suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a magnificent leopard with a spotted deer kill emerged from the bushes.
