March 2024 - Week 3 Roundup

Red-headed vulture

Sighted on: 18.March.2024

A Red-headed vulture was spotted during the morning boat safari. While we usually associate birds with good eyesight, did you know that vultures also have an excellent sense of smell that helps them track down carcasses in no time?

Blue-faced malkoha

Sighted on: 20.March.2024

A treat was in store for the avid birdwatchers during the evening vehicle safari – a blue-faced malkoha. The Blue-faced malkoha is rarely seen, and our guests were thrilled to have spotted one. It is a long-tailed grey cuckoo with a pale blue eye-ring and ivory-coloured bill. It has distinctive broad white tips on its undertail feathers. They clamber about in trees and thickets, either singly or in pairs and inhabit lowland and hill areas, where it favours thorny scrub and secondary growth.

Tiger

Sighted on: 21.March.2024

As summer arrives, the action shifts to the waterholes, which come alive with activity. If you have the patience to wait, you will more often than not hit gold, like this stunning tiger taking a dip near the rocks.
