November 2023 - Week 1 Roundup

Brown Fish Owl

Sighted on: 01.November.2023

owl

I had been on the lookout for the Brown Fish Owl for quite some time as I had not seen one for a while. This afternoon, I was guiding eight guests in the afternoon jeep safari, and being a very curious group, they were full of questions and interacted with me constantly. As we moved slowly along the safari track, I suddenly spied a Brown Fish Owl from the corner of my eye. The owl was perched on a cassia tree, presenting us with the perfect photo opportunity. The guests were as thrilled as I was with this sighting and were full of questions. They had an enjoyable time admiring and learning more about this beautiful owl.

Vultures

Sighted on: 04.November.2023

elephant

A female elephant had recently died of natural causes in the park, and as per the rules, its body was retrieved by the Forest Department and covered with vegetation. This is usually done in tourist areas to avoid distressing the visitors. However, despite their best efforts, a mixed group of vultures (multiple species) had found the carcass and were spotted feeding on it. While it may seem distressing for our guests, this is an integral part of the food chain and nature's way of ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
